Southern Brittany is a fantastic walking and cycling area. There are literally hundreds of
paths to explore ranging from the numerous specially laid out and signposted tracks to the
totally off-piste, go it alone option.
The landscape is one of gently rolling hills so it doesn`t get to strenuous, but at the same
time it`s never boring. There`s so much countryside to explore whether your a walker or a cyclist.
The scenery is stunning.
In France, not only can you follow all of the signposted circuits but you are also allowed
to walk or cycle anywhere in the countryside as long as you respect the crops and private signs.
The Voie Verte
This is an old railway line that has now been tarmac'd over. It is absolutely perfect for cycling
or walking and a great way to discover the area. The route is about forty miles long, almost flat
and winds its way through spectacular countrywide. The track is split into manageable portions
between the main towns and villages. There is a map available showing you were you can get food
and drinks along the way at auberges or creperies. Alternatively have a picnic or just stop off to
see the sights.

Megaliths
Brittany is famous for its Megaliths (standing stones). These are basically large upright (schist)
stones placed in a variety of patterns by ancient man. They are dotted around all over the place
Monteneuf has a recreation of a bronze age village built around them. If you are keen, you can also
see them at Gavrinis, Locmariaquer and at Carnac
